WIAC Hall of Fame

Three people with ties to UW-Platteville athletics will join the WIAC Hall of Fame this year. Among the 2022 Hall of Fame class – Merrill Brunson, Paul Conlin and Deb Schulman. Brunson was a 2-sport athlete competing in basketball and baseball at UWP. He’s the only Pioneer named NCAA D3 men’s basketball player of the year. Brunson was also part of 2 national championship teams and helped UWP basketball compile a 106-and-12 record in his 4 seasons. Paul Conlin was a 3-time national champion in the shot put – plus twice finished runner-up in the national competition. He was a 5-time All-American and 4-time conference champ. And Deb Schulman served as UWP volleyball coach for 28 seasons – racking up 641 wins – which is 2nd on the WIAC’s all-time wins list. Her teams made the NCAA tournament 6 times – with a pair of Sweet 16 finishes. Schulman was named D3 Midwest Region Coach of the Year in 2010. The WIAC Hall of Fame class will be inducted at a banquet on July 23rd in Stevens Point.
