Fans to see Camp Randall’s south end zone redesign at Badger football opener Saturday

MADISON, Wis. – Actual seats instead of bleachers, fireplaces and broad observation decks will be a part of a new game day experience some fans can take advantage of at Camp Randall.
A major overhaul to Camp Randall’s south end zone is now complete following months of construction that began the week after the regular season ended last fall.

“It is gorgeous,” said Sarah Schutt with the Wisconsin Alumni Association. “I’m very excited for fans and friends to get a chance to see that space I think it will enhance the game day experience,”
Five thousand bleacher seats have been replaced by 2,500 premium seats and hospitality clubs all while preserving the historic elements of the Field House.

Jason King with UW Athletics said ticket sales for the new space have been strong and earlier this week he noted only 60 seats in the south end zone were left to buy before Saturday’s Badger football opener.
“Badger fans have really stepped up. I think they like the product,” King said. “We’ve had a couple of opening events and gotten some really positive reviews.”
The new space will not just be limited to just Badger games; the athletic department plans to use the space for other programming throughout the year.
The new south end zone was built after feedback from fans and cost more than $75 million to complete.
