The Texas Rangers selected Tommy Specht of Dubuque Wahlert in the sixth round of the MLB Draft. He was the 169th pick overall. Specht is a 6-foot-3, 200-pound left-handed hitting outfielder who earned all-state accolades at Wahlert as a sophomore. Specht hopes to sign with the Rangers at the end of the week rather than play at the University of Kentucky in the fall. The two sides are finalizing contract details.
